ART, PERFORMANCES & CONVERSATIONS

All New Center programs speak to Jewish audiences and to the broader community. Attracting large and diverse groups of people, our past programs have explored wide-ranging themes and ideas, including: the Exodus story told from multiple cultural perspectives; the blending of Klezmer and swing music; and the influence of a Jewish up-bringing on the lives and careers of acclaimed writers, artists, musicians, actors, political figures and humorists.

We invite everyone to come and experience the insight, passion, humanity, and humor that lie at the heart of our programs.

BY THE TRAIL OF OUR VINYL IN TODAY'S BOSTON GLOBE!

Eight years ago, Roger Bennett and Josh Kun began an important journey, scouring the world to collect thousands of vinyl LPs from attics, garage sales, and dusty archives. The albums they unearthed are chronicled in their book, And You Shall Know Us By The Trail of Our Vinyl.  The colorful folios and audio tracks tell the story of Jews in America from the 1940s to the1980s, through the voices of music legends Yosele Rosenblatt, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, and so many more.  Jewish vinyl will come to life once again in Boston, with a special appearance by author Roger Bennett in conversation with Marco Werman from PRI’s The World, and performance by Israeli DJ band Soulico in the newly renovated Foundation Room at the House of Blues in Boston.  Soulico will heat up the party, as they remix these classic Jewish records with their unique blend of Middle Eastern, hip-hop, and reggae sounds.
